Victorian English settlers arrived here in the early 1850s.  We experience their interests, architecture, town planning and history as we take the city and harbour tour.

Studies help us understand ourselves our culture, other cultures and the forces needed to move people.

We see how settlers came in hopelessly dismal immigrant ships then chose a swamp to live on.  We follow their struggles with transport,  a massive a gold rush and dreams that couldn't work.

We visit locations around the city where we piece together the the fascinating story of the arrival and settlement of the modern English people, just 160 years ago.

We see their difficulties and successes in molding their culture with a number of very different, strange, landscapes.  You will be amazed how these people developed and used their knowledge, skills and industries to make their various communities successful. We learn of their dreams, their expectations, clothing, transport, food, and accommodation.  We see the ways they coped with different weather, wealth, nature, buildings, soil etc. from those they were used to.

Now Christchurch is among the world's best places to live.
