● "North Pole" is a town near Fairbanks. This is where Santa really lives . 
     Not allowed to burn wood due to pollution. Electricity for too expensive.
● "Has worlds biggest Santa statue"  and Santa's reindeer
● Rainfall about 300 mm pa so the river doesn't flood. (Just as well)
● Can have minus 30deg.C and more in winter when the rivers become roads
● Today the temp was a pleasant 17decC and cooling aircon was on every where! Brrr
●  Acute shortage of staff everywhere.  The maintenance man drove the hotel bus. 
    Punter "can you let me off at ------"  Grumpy maintenance man - "Not until I get there"
●  Hotel breakfast all with plastic plates and cutlery  NZ$22 cooked
