19 Wed  Kyoto's Temples
Journey by road to Kyoto. Capital for 1,000 years, this enchanting city is the epitome of traditional Japan. Upon arrival, stroll through the Arashiyama bamboo forest and admire the towering thickets. Also visit Ryoanji Temple, home to Japan's most well-known zen garden and the famous 'Golden Pavilion' Kinkakuji Temple.

Bullet train and bus, although modern comfortable and roomy,  are quite disappointing as there are high obscuring fences blocking around 80% of the "normal" sights.  Mostly these are dense cityscapes, rice growing plots, and then there are lots of long tunnels through the hills.

Places we visit are usually world heritage areas with history dating back to the 1400s.

Out and about the temp came to low 30s and humid.
