Arrival Te Anau The drive to Te Anau ended with a relaxed O/N stay in an $80 motel and time to explore a little of the once bursting tourist community.

Day 1
Late morning met the group, parked the car and met the new group. Then with a packed lunch entered the bus for the now quiet road to Milford - without compulsory scenic stops.  Zodiac to the "Explorer" anchored out from Fisherman's cove and left quite quickly to avoid deteriorating weather forecast.  The itinerary changed from the first night in Milford, skipping Bligh Fiord and stayed the first night in the sheltered George Sound (Fiord) for more time to avoid a predicted rough sea.

Day 2   George Sound

AM  Great chance to meet up and genoy a 2 km walk beyond the head of the fiord .  It seemed they are only poorly marked "routes" between the fiords and Lake Te Anau. Now off the bucket list.

AM everyone walked to the "bridge"and back for lunch.  PM 70% of the group returned to push further to a little lake 2 hours further on.  Rough steep and hard to follow but with a couple of experienced trackers in the team got everyone proudly there and back by around 5pm with darkening skies - very tired.

YEAH!!  - Success!!

Sore and tired  -  Nice
