Across the
Persian Gulf
for
Persia’s ancient cities.
Leaving Dubai we board the ferry to the historic port of Bandar Lengeh (pics) arriving early afternoon, where our Persian adventure starts. This afternoon we drive to Bandar Kong (pics) to visit the Anthropology Museum for an insight into southern Iranian culture, and discover the local artists of the region as well as their intricate artworks. Artist House of Bandar Kong 7 am depart no time for walk or leisurely breakfast - flight to Shiraz with fear of the strict Iran system - women must cover up and wear a head scarf while men must wear longs. Turns out great friendly people - lots of women on their own and they are also happy to speak with us, especially to show off their children. Mad traffic, with no rules - to cros the road you just walk smartly without stopping, Cars are older and temps cooler at around 27deg max - New currency is hard to understand - we had a quality restaurant meal for around $10 Ice-cream 80c (same cost as a litre of petrol) Nice boutique hotel, although no tv.
