Unfortunately most of the Zone's great churches were damaged or destroyed by the Christchurch Earthquakes 2011  

The Catholic and Anglican cathedrals were both completed in the early 20th century made from natural stone of the style of the big old churches throughout the world.

Both of these were badly damaged and cannot be entered.
