This long deep gorge offers one of New Zealand's premier commercial rafting experiences with 13 thrilling  rapids.

Between its towering walls we find lots of exciting white water, colorful history of earthquakes, gold mining, amazing scenery and geographic wonders.

KANES guests have more water time and more memorable thrills. Some rafters even venture on the "High Jump" 10 metres above a deep eddy.

Studies
Tectonics plays a large roll in the geography of this large river. There is a history of large destructive earthquakes to explore and floods are common events.  We can learn how they happened and explore ways of avoiding the resulting dangers. Historic mining settlements offer insights of towns, transport and mining in generations past
