Conservation in the Zone

Alpine flora and fauna struggles to withstand the ravages of violent weather extremes of the mountain environment These are beautiful and unique in the world.

Their tenacious hold on life can yet easily be destroyed. We witness vast areas of mountains where plants and soils have been lost.

Studies
Interested groups understand the reasons for vulnerability of the alpine nature
and we explore the ways human settlers can unknowingly damage the nature among the mountains.

Guests can examine how these unique mountain life forms cope with the winds, cold, dry, snow and heat that the New Zealand Alps encounter. Then we follow the interrelationships between nature in the mountains and the farms and settlements below.

By exploring the unfortunate consequences to human communities we understand why alpine life forms are so important to for land stability.  We explore the progressions of alpine land management systems.
