Following the Lewis Pass Alpine Trail * we pass 3 hot springs areas in this zone. 

Some natural hot springs are accessed by walking trails among the mountains and others near the roads have been developed into tourist resorts.  

Studies
By visiting at least 2 of these areas we can lean to  understand the causes and processes that made all this hot water spring from the earth.  We see how the heat is been harnessed and used. When possible this has been used for bathing pools to develop into tourist attractions. 

As well as adventure seekers and study groups these features are of special interest to chemistry, geography engineering and social studies groups.  KANES explain the significance of the areas as they apply to each group's interests.

We can explore the uses, development, administration and see how they are used to encourage tourism.
