We can take the world renown "Tranzalpine"  train, one of the world's great scenic railways.

It crosses through the Southern Alps beginning at the plains, follows a giant river gorge,  valleys, tunnels and viaducts.  The scenery is just outstanding.

As well as the comfortable seats and large windows we can stand in an "outside viewing carriage" and watch the supreme beauty of the alps.

When finally built early last centaury, the railway through the Southern Alps replaced the expensive, difficult and unreliable 3 day horse drawn coach journey.
