This world renown trail follows the large Haast River through a huge glacier valley between its mouth at the Tasman see and its source high among the Southern Alps.

The Greatest Scenery
We encounter steep-sided, narrow gorges raging rivers and drastic changes to the forest. It boarders startlingly different desert lands.

In just 3 hours on this trail travelers enjoy the sights of touring through towering mountains with huge glacier valleys, stunning waterfalls amazing hanging valleys, frightening gorges, beautiful dinosaur podocarp and beech rainforests, desert lands, braided river flats and huge glacier lakes. Lands are created by the violent microclimates. This magnificent Maori trail was used by early farmers before the modern road was built.

Other features include the World Heritage information centre, New Zealand's longest single lane bridge, exciting coasts, and the tectonic fault crossing.
