World Heritage Area
Supreme untouched natural beauty

The south west corner of New Zealand carries this prodigious status because of its special unique features of both geographical and biological wonders are present on this area. Geologically much of the area contains extremely old granite rock.

It encompasses 3 National Parks, reserves and a wonderful marine park each with special information and education facilities.

We find the most spectacular fiords, lakes, alps, glaciers, rainforests, rivers, walking trails, cirques, hanging valleys and spectacular waterfalls.   Still much of the area has never been explored. Extremely rare birds were found on the brink of extinction.

Outstanding walking trails range from just a few minutes to several days.
