We can visit temporary communities that have been established solely for the construction of a specific major project.

Major rail and HEP projects often needed construction towns (sometimes called camps) in remote areas to house the workers.

Some of these communities are now only memories and some are thriving with a new purpose.

By exploring "instant" communities we learn about their background we see how some have evolved to meet new uses and residents. 

We learn about culture and life styles of their days e.g. town planning, family life, ethics, singles, management, equipment, work systems, food, health, recreation, religion, services, transport and more.
