With  a large area of land, a reliable port, power and water the industries beginning with agriculture grow and trading develops:-

Farming
We find forms for sheep, Dairy and Beef cows, wheat, barley, potatoes, vegetables, deer and berries.  

Visits arranged for interested groups.

Agricultural factories include processing of meat, wool, vegetables, milk and leather,

There are factories that construct  irrigation & agricultural  equipment .

Brewery Factory visits show us the processes and methods of making and distributing beer one of NZ's most popular alcoholic beverage.

Fishing is a big industry for this zone.  There are two large fish processing factories and a number of processing fishing boats. 

Studies discuss the processes show us the facilities and look at the various products catching methods employed here.

Harbour & Shipping is the key for the zones growth. We can learn how the port works and see the ships learn about how they work their loading process here. more>

Boat Building has been a long established manufacturing that has been overtaken by larger and more efficient competitors in other zones.  However there are smaller operators supplying the smaller "made to order" leisure market. 

Study groups can visit these industries and meet people to explain their industry.
