A visit to the Waihi Mine lets us view the mining town, the huge open cast mine and its excellent information center with its AV's, maps.

Studies:
We can obtain a talk with the local staff who explains the history, development and progress of one of New Zealand's biggest mining operations. Another similar operations are found in the South Island's Scottish Culture Zone

Themes is the town that houses the workers. A visit here helps us see the local cultural differences between small industrial towns and others.
