Disposal of Abandoned Goods
LAW in brief
IF the combined value of the abandoned goods is MORE than the total costs of their removal to storage, their storage for 35 days, then their removal to an auction room and selling costs; then this process is required.
IF the combined value of the abandoned goods is LESS than the costs of their removal to storage, their storage for 35 days, then their removal to an auction rooms and selling costs; then the goods can be immediately sold or dumped.
Ensure proof of the value of abandoned items is available should a tribunal become involved..
Tenants must be advised how their abandoned possessions are to be disposed of and that they have the right to take them away. and substantially reduce their disposal costs. See suggested 24hr inspection notice due to "suspected abandonment"
