Debtor's "Address for Service"
Essential for court debt collections
Address for service can be either:-
● Current residential address OR
● A specified other address OR
● A specified email addressNote:- Other postal addresses or email address must be clearly specified as "address for service" and signed by person.
Signatures and agreements are best collected on tenancy agreements and updated regularly (with phone numbers when making inspections.
IF the current residential address is unknown:-
1) Make an MBIE "Contact information request then
2) Email request to Tenancy.ACI@mbie.govt.nz
Alternatively make a MOJ "Contact information request"
Both these institutions seek the needed address from various
government institutions and send letters advising if the address is
found. they are confidential bur enable debt recovery process to
continue.
IF the debtor's income provider is not known
creditors can apply to the courts for a Financial assessment application
This compels debtors to attend a meeting with an officer to
determine if they can afford to make regular debt repayments.
Failure to attend the meeting results in an arrest warrant.
