Europe with Danube/Rhine Cruise Stage 1 9 Day Home-stay Dünzlau (near Ingolstardt) Germany 21-30 May 2026 Home-stay with our favorite German daughter. Beate lived with us for a year as an exchange student. Now settled with her own husband and child (My favorite German Son-in-law & Grandson) Richard and Leon. Activities are free and easy. Below are places of interest we may choose to include during this period.

Fri 22 After a morning stroll in the neighbourhood Beate, and I took a picnic lunch a walk around a local lake, Just after lunch we collected young Leon from his kindergarten then met up with Beate's brother Robert, Sister in law, Agnes and Constantine. Sat 23 Families took the drive to Kelheim and Weltenburg Abbey. These are two small tourist attractions are at each end of the spectacular Weltenburger Gorge on the famous River Danube. Sun 24 Relaxing day with a walk in the morning and evening, Robert's family left for their 6 hour drive (speeds of 170kph) to near Berlin. Days very hot at 30degC afternoons and hay fever kicking in hard after our evening walk . Mon 25 15 min drive from Dünzlau, Ingolstadt is the place Audi cars are made. Population around 140,000 Temp reaching 31 deg C First the mobile amusement event (move over Caroline Bay). Richard and I enjoyed a huge Bavarian meal at one of two tent "beer halls " then I took an $18 ride on the "big swing" thing. just because it was available. .I was the only punter for that "ride" Tue 26 The mountains & lakes at Welchensee Wed 27 E-Bike ride and Audi Museum Later went with Beate to collect Leon and enjoy a couple of balmy hours under the trees at the water park. Thu 28 Morning walk - Bike to explore Ingolstadt collect Leon and head home Fri 29 Train to Prague and goodbye to our kind and hospitable German family Sat 30 Big walk around Prague Meet Coach tour group Next, Stage 2 Coach tour |
