TUE 2 - Victoria Falls Following breakfast a qualified guide will meet us at the hotel foyer before departing for the falls. The Victoria Falls is one of the 7 natural wonders of the world and is arguably the greatest waterfall in the world. David Livingstone was the first European to visit the falls and named it after Queen Victoria. The local name is perhaps more descriptive - Mosi oa Tunya (meaning “the Smoke that Thunders”). This spectacle occurs with the tranquil expanse of the Zambezi River plunging over a chasm 1700 metres wide and 100 metres deep, avg 9000 cumecs) creating a shower of spray and deafening noise. more> After a guided tour of the falls we return to the hotel or take a walk in Vic Falls village where you can purchase souvenirs. We return to the Lodge for lunch. This afternoon we take the bus to the Zambezi River for a sundowner cruise. The cruise sails upward and westward along the Zambezi which forms a natural border between Zambia and Zimbabwe. Chances are you may spot some of the large herds of elephants as they come down for an evening drink or the hippos enjoying the last rays of sun, so don’t forget your camera. After the cruise we return to the Lodge to enjoy our last dinner at this magnificent accommodation. Gorges Lodge (Breakfast Lunch and Dinner included + all drinks)
