Up at 6ish and
watched the world from the room balcony then took a walk before
breakfast - am amazed the way they have built the town on such a
steep hillside -keeping the flatter ground for growing food. Drive 1
hour loosing altitude - lovely views - Ta Chai involved another 3 hr
walk some rather persistent hawkers overwhelmed us with their wares
then followed us down the hill for quite some time. One feels
sorry for them being so desperate. These ladies seem to be a
minority culture -not sure. Walk finished with a lunch in a
local restaurant and then a cultural dance display ($20 cost) -
another top "walking tour" of about 3 hours and about 3k. - so
much learned about these quiet hard working people - and they are
making a buck from us tourists too now. on to "lodge" for rest
then walk around the hilltop before dinner (cost to be a surprise).
Love the tropical holiday environment watched sunset and later fire
flies silent except for the insects frogs etc.
