Sat 30   Saigon  Museum of Ho Chi Minh

"Free & easy day" - at 7-30 am braved the 3km walk to the museum on the Saigon River. Here "Uncle Ho" is made to be a deity for today's people no doubt aimed at keeping them united and loyal.  For centuries these people have been almost constantly at war against five major regimes, and some minor ones, in order to gain independence, peace and the opportunity to develop their way. Ho Chi Minh and his military partner, Nguyen Ai Quoc, made it finally happen - at a huge cost and effort - and it seems to be working quite well after 40 years from what we see now with the healthy happy people, from 54 different cultural groups cooperating, building trading owning their own property and gathering possessions from their efforts. Ho Chi Minh himself died before reunification was obtained. (i.e. when the American military withdrew and the South Vietnam regime collapsed and surrendered.)

Reveled in the hotel (outdoor) pool in the 16th floor - and dozed in the heat for 3 hours - Nice!  - Start the Cambodia Tour tomorrow - well rested.

Cutting reinforcing with an arc welder and sun glasses - love the work boots too
