To Yazd - Persepolis and Pasargadae. This morning we continue our journey through striking
mountain scenery, pausing to visit the ruins of
Pasargadae
(pics), built in
6th century BC, as well as one of the ancient world’s most
impressive sights – the ruins of
Persepolis
(Pics). Constructed by
Darius
the Great 500s BC and destroyed by
Alexander the Great,
300s BC. The ruins tell the
story of the unquestioned glory and power of the
Achaemenid Empire.
