Lyell
One of many, this remnant is within the beautiful Buller River Gorge. *
Then
This once thriving settlement, was crammed with two churches, two hotels, several workshops, businesses, shops and houses all catering for a large gold mining operation (1872-1912). The last building here (hotel) was sadly destroyed by fire in the 1940s.Now
We now see the small block of land that carried this thriving town. Gravestones and colourful memories are beautifully presented on large display boards depicting the thriving community as it used to be.See also:- Link *
