Mountaineering is a pastime with a significant portion of the population of both locals and visitors taking a roll. Planning discussions reveal degree of experience group members have attained and the level they require

Studies help is understand  the equipment, skills and forces that drive participants to this activity we can visit an information centre and view the equipment on display. There are also books, maps and photos to help us with this study.  For a small fee we can call in a local alpine guide to provide a lecture on the subject. 

We enter a valley trail from which we can view some of the routes that mountaineers follow to reach their destinations. In the process we become aware of the important factors relating to this activity including: weather, the ice, snow, avalanches, fitness, food, sleep facilities leadership and routes These are factors and that can lead to injuries and death on a mountaineering expedition.
