Wed 3    Phnom Penh - Siem Reap

Cooler 35°C - Long 6 hr drive mainly good road and interesting country side.  Good driver & guide (just for me:-) got about 30 min of heavy rain on the way & understand recent history much better.  The guide lost his father and uncles to Pol Pot who tortured and killed 3million leaders & academics in 1975.  It still hurts him deeply, how could he have led me round the prison (torture base for information before being killed) yesterday?   4-45am start tomorrow to catch the great sunrise.

3 nights here

Took 3 attempts for the concierge to show me the correct location of the hotel on their free map. Twice I was sent off in wrong directions (walking in the heat) and had to return to argue there was a problem.  Grrrr!  The 3rd time I could tell them they had their hotel shown on the map on the wrong side of the street to what it actually was!
