Southern Alps

Fast rivers, towering mountains, snow, forests, water falls, hot pools mountain all give adventure seekers fabulous opportunities for new learning experiences. 

These towering snow capped mountains are constantly uplifting with the earths inner forces.  They dominate the weather and the vegetation about them.  They are lashed by the violent "Roaring Forties" that deposit on them huge quantities of snow creating glaciers.

This impressive mountain range extends along the South Island reaching heights of 3700 metres and  forming a huge barrier between the east and west of the Island. 

Studies:
We can explore the full majesty from both sides of the island exploring dramatic erosion and huge varieties of vegetation along with contrasting microclimates. Rock climbing and photography add to the pleasure and inspiration of the walks on offer.

Different Views
There are helicopter and plane flights available (weather permitting) that help visitors gain the important views from above.  These are highly recommended. more
