The Antarctic Centre and Canterbury Museum provide us with insights into the lives, homes and work of the Antarctic explorers. By experiencing for ourselves the extreme conditions of wind and cold we begin to appreciate the unusual requirements for buildings, equipment and clothing needed to withstand the extreme cold and wind for these settlers. We find out how buildings are made to withstand the extreme cold and wind. We see the effects the climate has on equipment and people. We look at the special structures, energy, industries, transport, food, water, equipment nature waste and conservation. See also:-
