First Ice Thursday 16 Jan Woke up with crash bang and shudder of ice hitting the hull. Out for the pics - 10 min gym, coffee and after quick breakfast, mandatory lecture on health, safety & biosecurity then lecture on the Scott Amundsen race - then photography workshop, lecture on the Adelie penguins, Borchgrevink's building restoration at Cape Adare, tomorrow's brief then after dinner rush to the 3rd part of the doco on Borchgevink expedition based at Cape Adare, 10-45pm rest - with sun still high and bright - no not yet - intercom call to see a group of 10 feeding whales - freezing cold now
