Itinerary
Head south to the Ross Island area visiting Sub Antarctic Islands on the way. At the Continent  there are several shore landings to explore wildlife and areas of  historic and geographic interest.   

Tue & Wed 7 & 8 Jan  -  All aboard
First night Queenstown, meet and greet with meal then next day bus to Bluff, board the ship and head to Stewart Island to kill some time and avoid a bad weather bomb.

Thurs 9 Jan  Stewart Island
Morning 2 hour walk on Ulna Island looking at birds and stuff.
Afternoon At Oban looking around the shops


Fri 10 Jan  Snares Islands
Morning exploring from the zodiacs. 
Afternoon travelling south.  


Sat 11 At Sea 

Sun 12  Macquarie Island
Morning
Northern end

Close to science base of around 20 we walk among elephant seals and king penguins then moved south to Sandy Beach during lunch
Afternoon  Mid  Island  (East Coast)
Visit Two large colonies one of "
King penguins" and "Royal penguins".
Then evening Zodiac ride

Mon 13 ++  3 Days At Sea


Thurs 16  First Ice and Whales at sea
Crossing the Antarctic Circle

Fri 17  Jan  Cape Adare First steps on the continent

Adelie Penguin colony and Amundsen's Hut

Sat 18  At Sea
Travelling south with an ice-flow zodiac ride

Sun 19   Tera Nova Bay Then sail via Inexpressible Island
Drygalski Ice Tongue

Mon 20  Sail on to Ross Island Mt Erebus and Scott's hut at Cape Evans
PLUS Zodiac ride along blocking sea ice

Tue 21   At sea towards McMurdo Sound

Wed 22 Cape Royds and Shackleton's Hut

Thurs 23   Ross Ice Shelf, Cape Bird and Hut Point
Southern most visit - Midnight dash to McMurdo Base and Scott's first "Discovery" hut then northward bound.

Fri 24 Franklin Island penguin colony and seals
Northward bound with afternoon shore visit in southern Ross Sea

Sat 25 Possession Island by-pass 
Bay inside Cape Adare was filled with sea ice with strong currents.  Not accessible.
Last view of the continentq

Sun 26 + + +  5 Days At Sea northwards to Campbell Islands
Sun  Left the Ross Sea behind
Mon
  Rough ocean and fog - Sleep and lectures  
Tue  Zodiac ride and pics of spectacular Balleny Islands
Wed Roughest ocean to date - warming, 2am non aura - morning sleep and library
Thu  Rough, some rain and windy big swells.  Pleasant and relaxing

Fri 31  Campbell Island Zodiac & Albatross walk

Sat 1 Feb   Auckland Islands
Walk around Enderby Island
