Woke to another brilliant sunny morning with temp of 7deg and a chilling breeze.

Morning  The ice had cleared enough to for access to the hut. and returned to a beautiful barbeque lunch

Afternoon The zodiacs went out to experience more whales and penguins along the sea ice boundary and ended up having a "party" on the ice - yes it is thick.

Evening The organizers and crew are tried to push through ice to make a channel to reach some free water that might allow access to  McMurdo and Scott base plus another historic hut.  This proved impossible.  The ship pulled back and tried plan B.  Plan B was to use the channel just made by the ice breaker.  Permission to access it when the breaker wasn't working, between 10pm and 5am   This attempt also failed because after an hour trying the ice was closing. All so very interesting a great new insight.  The weather forecast for tomorrow is not good so will sleep then.
