Action Education
These crossings are high among mountain peaks and accesses some of New Zealand's most spectacular sights and roads.  Information centre, staff and guides all help explain the sights and processes according to each group's level and interest.

Engineering students gain knowledge of road and rail building involving: bridges, water control and trail blazing among the mountains. 

Geographers explore tectonics erosion, weather, mapping.

Biologists investigate alpine plants, forests and animals discovering how they have adapted to the harsh variable conditions.

Meteorologists explore dramatic changes in high altitude temperatures, wind, rain, snow, orographic effects and application of weather maps.
