Christchurch - Hanmer (2 hrs)
Explore earthquake damage English style city, parks, Victorian architecture, shops, beaches and the volcano that originally attracted the city's first settlers. Later we make our way north west towards the mountains and the resort town of Hanmer Springs.

Hanmer Springs - Westport (4hrs)
(Alpine Trails Zone) Today we pass through the South Island's towering, ever moving, Southern Alps encountering massive land movements, a high alpine pass and ancient mountain rain forests. Expect dramatic scenery and weather changes.

(Mining & Milling Zone) Today we enjoy some of the world's most spectacular coasts with the violent Tasman Sea and the towering Southern Alps. Greymouth - Fox Glacier (4 hrs)
Ghost towns and broken lands greet us. Here, settlers once clambered for irresistible wealth. We encounter nature's vicious retaliation and see the power of unleashed wind, rain, rivers, ice and tectonics. Fox Glacier - Queenstown (6hrs)
(Glacier & Scenic Zone) This morning we begin this part of the world's most spectacular tourist route surrounded by untouched Podocarp giants rising high above ancient rain forests. This is the World's wettest land. Towering mountains dominate the glaciers, water falls, lakes and swamps. By late afternoon after passing through the Southern Alps we incredibly encounter parched desert lands. (Alpine Grandeur Zone) After some free time in Queenstown we journey past historic mining settlements, over the high alpine tussock grasslands of the beautiful Lindis Pass then onwards to open tundra towards the spectacular Mt Cook National Park. Mt Cook - Timaru (3 hrs)
Mammoth tectonic uplifting, breathtaking alps, cascading avalanches devastating glaciers and iceberg lakes are all to be found. After exploring the national park we travel east and descending to the pacific coast where local communities welcome us as the vast Pacific Ocean impacts ancient volcanic lava flows nearby.
